According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 30% of fatal accidents in the state are caused by intoxicated drivers. At this point in 2011, 3,407 arrests have been made for driving under the influence which is considerably higher than the 2,452 arrests made in 2010. Tennessee law enforcement is concerned that the rise in arrests reflects an increase drunk driving may reflect an increase in drunk driving.
