The industry’s Independent Healthcare Advisory Services (IHAS), has drawn up what is known as The Good Medical Practice in Cosmetic Surgery, a code of conduct. However it appears that the code is being widely ignored by some surgeons and famous clinics. However, a medical negligence lawyer may be required if something has gone wrong as a result of this. In 2007 Which? Magazine attended the Body Beautiful show in London and found many concerning factors among the different stands. The magazine wrote to the IHAS after finding 20 examples of rule-breaking and bad practice in some promotional materials. Jennifer Esposito, 39, a New York City high-society hostess claims to have been “seriously injured” by a cosmetic procedure because a laser treatment designed to even her skin tone permanently burned red stripes on her face, gaining the attention of medical malpractice lawyers.
